Piotr Kopczyński

Chamber pianist and pedagogue, long associated with the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where he has been teaching since 2012. He is a graduate of the University, having studied piano in the class of Prof. Piotr Paleczny and chamber music with Prof. Maja Nosowska.

He further developed his artistic skills under the guidance of distinguished masters of the piano world, including Arie Vardi, Vera Gornostaeva, Alexei Orlovetsky, John O’Connor, Kevin Kenner and Vitaly Samoshko. He is a scholarship holder of the National Children’s Fund and the Minister of Culture and Art, and a two-time laureate of the “Young Musicians Forum” of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Warsaw.

An artist with a clearly defined chamber music profile, he is consistently focused on chamber repertoire, with particular emphasis on the piano–instrument duo. He specialises in working with string instruments – violin, viola and cello – developing long-term artistic collaborations based on partnership, dialogue and shared responsibility for musical interpretation. His repertoire spans a wide stylistic range, from Baroque to contemporary music, encompassing both the classical canon and lesser-known chamber works.

As a chamber pianist, he has collaborated with outstanding soloists such as Andrzej Bauer, Michał Bryła, Katarzyna Budnik, Ewa Guzowska, Ryszard Groblewski, Wojciech Koprowski, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Alexander Sitkovetsky, Tomasz Strahl, Monika Ubraniak-Lisik and Janusz Wawrowski. He is a highly regarded stage partner for artists of different generations, actively supporting the artistic development of young soloists.

In addition to duo repertoire, he regularly performs in larger chamber ensembles – trio, quartet and quintet – co-creating projects based on close artistic collaboration and a shared vision of musical narrative.

He has performed as a chamber musician in major concert halls in Poland and abroad, including the National Philharmonic and the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw, the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic in Łódź, the Lviv Philharmonic, the National Philharmonic of Ukraine in Kyiv, the Universität der Künste in Berlin, and the Polish Radio Concert Studio in Katowice.

He is actively involved in pedagogical work as a pianist and lecturer at prestigious music courses and academies, including the Zenon Brzewski International Music Courses in Łańcut, Piła Festival Academy, and the Winter Music Academy at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music in Lusławice.
